Functional Benefits
Summary
Acetone is an organic compound derived from both natural and synthetic sources, commonly found as a colourless, volatile liquid. In pet food manufacturing, its primary function is as a solvent in the extraction or processing of certain ingredients, rather than as a direct nutrient. Acetone is not used in its pure, natural form in finished pet foods; any residues are strictly regulated to ensure safety.
Manufacturer Benefits
Acetone is included as a solvent or processing aid to extract or purify certain ingredients during manufacturing. Its use can optimise ingredient consistency and ensure product uniformity, though it is typically removed before final packaging.

When present, it is not used in its natural raw form but as a refined compound to ensure safety and controlled functionality within manufacturing processes.
Manufacturer Benefits
Dimethylacetamide is included as a solvent or processing aid to facilitate the blending or dissolution of certain additives or nutrients during manufacturing. Its use optimises production efficiency and ingredient integration, though it is not intended to provide nutritional or palatability benefits.

Glycofurol is not used in its raw chemical form but is specifically manufactured and purified for safe inclusion in formulated products.
Manufacturer Benefits
Glycofurol is included as a solvent or carrier to enhance the solubility and stability of certain active ingredients in pet food formulations. Its use allows for more uniform distribution of additives or nutrients, optimising product consistency and shelf life.
