Monika's Doggie Rescue

Overview
Monika’s Doggie Rescue is a private charity based in Ingleside on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Founded by Monika Biernacki, it operates under a strict “no-kill” policy and has become one of the largest independent dog rescue organisations in New South Wales.
The shelter’s core mission is to save dogs from council pounds and give them a second chance at life.
Adoption
All dogs are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and health-checked before adoption. After a short quarantine period, they are placed at the Ingleside shelter, known as “Doggiewood,” or with foster carers until they find permanent homes.
Adopters can view available dogs online and submit an application, with fees set to cover essential veterinary costs rather than profit. This approach ensures every adoption directly supports the ongoing rescue of other dogs.
Lost Pet
Monika’s Doggie Rescue does not function as a pound. If your pet is lost, you must contact your local council pound or a nearby vet so the animal can be scanned for a microchip and safely reunited with you.
If a dog goes unclaimed, Monika’s may later take it in for rehoming once the statutory holding period has passed.
Donate
The charity relies heavily on community support and accepts both one-off and regular donations. Contributions help cover food, medical treatment, and the daily running costs of caring for hundreds of dogs at any given time.
Volunteer
Volunteers are a key part of the organisation, assisting with hands-on animal care, dog walking, fundraising, and community events. Foster carers are also in high demand, with some dogs requiring months of support before they are ready for adoption.
Applications can be made directly through the rescue’s website.
